Sic Skateboarding

Ollie The ollie is THE Trick that helps you do all the other tricks, You need to learn to ollie before any other trick. Ride allong at a comfortable pace. Put your front foot a little behind the front bolts (hardware), then your back foot should go on your tail. Kneel down, then start an upward motion, like a jump On your way up slam your tail down and slide your front foot forward a little bit. With all those things going on at the same time you should be getting some air. When you've become comfortable with the ollie you'll find out that you'll start to ollie higher and higher. If you have trouble with ollieing over a deck or something try to center your weight straigt above your deck, then you will stay with both feet on the board. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shove-it It is making the board spin 180 degrees, while your body doesn't. Ok now how to do it... Ride along, like your going to do an ollie, when you tap your tail, slam your back foot backwards, and your front foot forwards, and then jump. The board should spin 180 degrees under you, then land back on it, and ride away. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Backside 180 Ride with a fair amount of speed and put your backfoot like a regular ollie and your frontfoot also, but put your toes a little bit over the edge of the board. Now make an ollie but when popping, move your backfoot to the front and your front foot to the back(that sounds great!). Land and roll away cleanly... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frontside 180 Roll at a decent speed and put your backfoot to the frontside of your tail and your frontfoot a little bit to the backside of your board. Hit the tail and push it backwards and turn your body. When first practising this you'll probably land like 90 degrees. Then try to turn your body in the opposite direction a bit and right before hitting the tail begin to move your body back, that will give you enough speed to get the whole 180. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kickflip First ride along at a decent speed. Put your back foot at the end of the tail, and have your toes on the edge of the board (in the middle of the board) then when you tap your tail, slide your toe up the edge of the board, then when you reach your nose, slide your toe right off the side, this will cause the board to spin. Jump high above the board, let it spin, and catch under your feet and come back down with bent knees, and ride away, knowing that it looked pretty cool. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heelflip This is like the kickflip, except you spin it with your heel. Ok first of all, ride along at a good speed, then put your back foot at the edge of your tail. Then put your front foot, in the middle of your board. (Remember have your toes hanging off the edge) Tap your tail, then slide your foot up, kick out hard (your heel should hit the edge), and jump high. the board should spin under you. Remember to land back on the board with bent knees, and ride away. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50-50 grind ok all this is, is using both trucks, to slide down a rail, curb, whatever. Ok, go towards the grind, and ollie. Try to land on the grind, with both trucks. If you do, you will be grinding. If you can ollie and land on the grind, and your board isn't moving, try to ollie a little bit smaller. And bend your knees while your on the grind. Then do a small wheely(or ollie)off the grind, and then you have landed it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Board slide Ok all this is, sliding the middle of your board, across a grind, rail, weird curb, ect. Ok go towards the object, that you are deckslideing, and do an ollie, turn your board 90 degrees, and land on the railslide. Then lean forward, and keep your balance, and slide slide slide. Then when it is time to get off, turn your board back 90 degrees, and ride off. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nose slide This is sliding across something with your nose. Ok go towards the object, and do what you normally do with a deck slide, except this time, don't move your board all the way over it, land your nose on it, lean into it. You should be able to slide. Just keep trying it, and soon it will be easier. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manual This is riding on two wheels. Its as easy as that. Lean back, and if your about going to hit your tail, lean forward, if your about to fall forward lean backwards. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5-0 grind This is when you grind on only 1 of your trucks(the back one). To do this, all you have to do is go toward the grind, like your doing a normal one, then when you ollie on, lean back(like a manual), and land on your 1 of your trucks, (back one probably) and start grinding, then ride off of the grind, and ride away. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pressure Flip To pressure flip put your back foot in the little groove of the kick tail and put your front foot near it on a 45 degree angle. Ride along with good speed and kick down and then spin the board with your back foot.If the board does sort of a flip 180 then jump real high and spread your feet so the board will Pressure flip under you. You might have to try different methods till you get it right. Do not do this trick staying still. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

360FLIP First, put the ball of your backfoot on the far edge og the tail so a lot of your foot will be covering the tail. It feels weird at first but you'll get used to that. Put the front foot somewhere in the middle of your board and let it hang over the edge a little bit. Not as muck as by a kickflip.Put your feet in a little angler forward then put pressure on the toes of both your front and back foot. Then pop the tail and push your backfoot to the side while your front foot acts like a regular kickflip(yes, first learn the kickflip!) Now try to stay above your board with bended knees and when going down stretch a bit and when you've come on the board absorb the landing by bending your knees. Then roll away cleanly..... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Backside 180 kickflip First learn good backside 180's and kickflips and then try this one. Be sure to ride at a decent speed and then put your front foot just like a kickflip but then in a slightly bigger angle(toes more pointing the nose of your board) and your backfoot at the center of your tail. First set in the 180 and when your turning, flip the board(this is almost immediatly after you've set in the 180) and be sure not to lean to much to the front because if you do, you'll crash hard(I know!!)Now land and roll away knowing you did it! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frontside Flip First learn good f/s 180's and kickflips before trying this one... Ride with a fair amound of speed and put your front foot just like a kickflip and your backfoot like an ollie. Bend your knees and then go up again. When going up pop hard and slide your front foot of like a kickflip and turn your body 180. This one takes a lot of practice('cause it's very different from normal flips) so good luck.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hard Flip This is much like a f/s flip but now you don't turn your body 180. Just ride and put your feet like a f/s flip(see above) and when you've hit your tail jump as high as you can. When performed right the board will go between your legs and flip. Be sure to jump high and pull up your legs or else the board will hit you in your . This one also takes a lot of practice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blunt Slide 1) Roll towards the obsticle at a good speed and at an angle between 10 and 35 degrees. 2) Snap the tail and pull your front foot up and in as high as it will go. 3) Bring your back foot up with it but as the obstacle comes beneathyou, push your back foot down so that you land on the ledge/curb with your tail down and your board pointing close to vertically. 4) On contact, push your back foot forward and lean back. Compensate this lean by keeping your shoulders straight and forward. This should let you slide. 5) Slide 6) As you near the end of your your slide, put a bit of extra weight on your front foot so that the board tilts to less of a vertical angle. This prepares yopu to be able to snap out of this trick. 7) Push your tail down hard and jump away from the obsticle. 8) Bring your back foot in as close to your body as it will come and pull up and in with your front foot. 9) Push your front foot forward and down while rotaing your ankle. 10) Land cleanly and roll away. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Nosegrind 1) Approach the ledge at a good speed (never slow!!!) 2) When you reach your ledge ( a VERY slight angle), make sure that your front foot is near the 2 back bolts on the front truck. 3) Ollie high enough for the front truck to be a little bit above the ledge. 4) In the air, put pressure on the nose of the deck so that the board's front truck is on the ledge. then push foward so that it will grind easier. 5) Make sure your weight is centered above the board, or else you just won't grind(I had this problem myself) 5)When you are at the end of the ledge lean back just a little so you can get off it and land. **When you are grinding, you have to lean to towards the ledge. This will put pressure on the wheel that's on there and you will grind more smoothly. TIP: Don't do this on a handrail unless you're a pro (or almost a pro). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frontside 360 It is best to try this trick off a curb cut or down a small drop the first time. If you can do frontside 180s, this trick should come fairly easy. 1> Approach the curb cut with a 180 in mind, but place your front foot a little farther back than you normally would for a 180. 2>Before you ollie, twist your shoulders in the opposite direction you want to spin, and let'er rip! 3>Let your shoulders over rotate you through the 180 and into the 360. 4>You will probably only spin 270 at first, but the more you become accostomed to spinning, the more control you will gain. (Tip: you can also try to land on your front 2 wheels and turn the last 90 degrees on your front wheels) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nollie Noseslide 1>First of all, you need to learn how to nollie and noseslide comfortably. 2>Approach the obstacle with a fair amount of speed. 3>As soon as you nollie, lean back a little and point the nose toward the ledge, curb, rail, etc, you are about to slide. 4> When you land on the nose of your board, shift your weight to the front foot. 5>Keep your weight on the front, push down on your nose, and slide for as long as you can. 6>You can either come out with a revert ( and land in your regular stance ) or you can come out fakie. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big Spin (360 pop shove-it backside 180) You can do this either going regular or fakie. Fakie makes it much easier to spin the board. Also you can either do it like a pop shove-it (hitting the tail)or like a varial (not hitting the tail). When you are riding along at a good speed hit the tail and kick with your back foot to spin the board. At the same time turn your body 180 degrees. The board should spin 360 degrees.Catch the board once its done spinning and land with bent knees. At first you need to get used to spinning the board underneath your body instead of in front. Also if you find that the board is only doing a 270 and your body is doing a 90 you just haft to rotate your shoulders more. The faster you go the easier it is to spin the board.
